Cooks' Woods is a choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm set in the rolling hills of Grant County on Wisconsin's southwestern edge. Along with Christmas trees, the farm also has fresh balsam wreaths and garland available.
Cooks' Woods will be open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 22 through Monday, December 22, 2014.
We usually have a limited amount of our maple syrup for sale during the Christmas season.
CHRISTMAS TREES - Fresh Christmas trees give unparalleled beauty and fragrance to a traditional family Christmas celebration. Every spring thousands of evergreens are planted at Cooks' Woods, and in 7-10 years will be ready to harvest. Visit our farm and enjoy the pleasure of choosing and cutting your own Christmas tree!
WREATHS AND GARLAND - Beginning in early November hundreds of wreaths and other decorative evergreen items, as well as a few thousand feet of garland, are hand made on the farm at Cooks' Woods. We would be happy to make some just for you.
Pure maple syrup is typically produced at Cooks' Woods, near Fennimore, Wisconsin, in March. We usually have maple syrup for sale in various grades and bottle sizes. We have several favorite maple syrup recipes to share. Please see our maple syrup page for more details.
Our maple syrup Open House event will be Saturday March 28, 2015, from 9 am to 4 pm. You are invited to come to the farm, watch the processing from sap to syrup and sample some maple syrup treats. Maple syrup will be available for purchase as long as quantities permit.
Since 1953, the land at Cooks' Woods has been owned and managed by members of the Lamont Cook family. Dave Cook, the farm's proprietor since 1984, has raised grain and, until 1999, hogs here. In 1995, Dave and his wife Barb began to plant Christmas trees in some of the farm's unused pastures. Soon thereafter they began tapping some of the maple trees found in the east woods. Today, thousands of Christmas trees are growing on the farm and hundreds of taps are placed in the forest each spring to gather the sap used to make pure maple syrup.
The Cooks enjoy cultivating products that evoke pleasant memories for many of their customers. They invite you to visit them in the sugaring and Christmas seasons (or by appointment in any season) to experience some of the magic of the Wisconsin countryside and reconnect with the roots we all have in nature's life-giving cycles.
Our address is 2176 Ebenezer Road, Fennimore Wisconsin 53809. Here is a map to our farm.
